What is Automotive Design

Automotive Design is an undergraduate program that trains students in designing, manufacturing, and maintenance of an automobile. It is a 4 year-long course that teaches a wide variety of topics to the students like the transportation sector, energy, and environmental concerns, application of fossil and alternative fuels and the development of vehicles of the future. The main concern of the Automotive Design engineer is creating ideas and concepts via rough sketches and computer-aided design (CAD).

Pursuing an Automotive Design course will also give them a visual appearance and would get to know the functional performance before developing the actual vehicle. The clients would demand the portfolio to have 2D drawings and 3D art pieces. The Automotive Design students would also undergo an internship to give them an idea about portfolio handling. This would help them get placement in the top companies.

In order to enrol in undergraduate or postgraduate Automotive Design courses, students must remember the necessary qualifications. Some of the most common criteria for admission to various institutes are as follows:

Eligibility Criteria UG Courses

  • The students should have passed 10+2 with the main subjects as Physics and Mathematics and any one subject out of Chemistry/Biology/Biotechnology/Computer.

  • The students should have 45-50 per cent aggregate marks in the general category with 5 per cent relaxation for the SC/ST category.

Top Entrance Exams for UG Courses

JEE Main-

JEE Main is conducted by National Testing Agency (NTA) twice a year. The online entrance examination is the gateway for admission into NITs, IIITs and various other institutes accepting the score. Candidates who will qualify will be eligible for appearing for JEE Advanced. By qualifying this, candidates will be eligible for admission into IITs and other premium colleges.

Eligibility Criteria for PG Courses

  • For admission to a postgraduate degree in Automotive Design courses, students

have to go through entrance exams either at the national or state level.

  • Some colleges even give admission on the 12th board mark.
